But If Dreams Came True Oh Wouldn't That Be Nice...

All week longer volunteers have worked tirelessly with Extreme Makeover, the Buffalo Edition. Not only has 228 Massachusetts been torn down and totally rebuilt using green technology, but many homes in the neighborhood have also received sprucing up, not only to make it look wonderful but also to increase energy efficiency.

On Massachusetts and surrounding blocks there were ladders and people everywhere. I think even absentee landlords benefited by getting the yards raked.

Shuttle buses will run from the Erie Basin Marina today, the only way for non-volunteers and others not working today to gain entrance. Even though it has been said that no walk ups will be allowed, really, you don't want to drive in the area. The endless buses tended to treat 14th Street as a driveway, giving new meaning as frustrated drivers thought or yelled "Move that bus!"

In just a few hours thousands of people will gather for the unveiling of the Powell family's new home. Already the immediate streets are closed off as last minute preparations are being done. Hey, I had to be out and about anyway :) However, I'm unlikely to be there later on, but maybe.

Not only the new home, but also the beautified surrounding area is sure to astound Delores Powell and family. Tears of happiness all around, I'm sure. Meanwhile, a line written by Bruce Springsteen comes to mind "If dreams came true oh wouldn't that be nice..."

Congratulations to all - it has been a wonderful week!

Now - Move That Bus!!!
